History
“Ruth S. McGill, Q.C. Ruth was one of the first female lawyers in private practice in Saskatchewan.”
The law firm was originally founded in 1933 in Regina, Saskatchewan, by Ruth S. McGill, Q.C. Miss McGill was one of the first female lawyers in private practice in Saskatchewan and, for many years, the only female lawyer engaged in private practice in the City. In 1965 she was joined by James E. Robb, and practiced under the firm name of McGill & Robb, Barristers and Solicitors until her passing in 1974. Mr. Robb practiced under the firm name of James E. Robb, Barrister and Solicitor, until he was joined by Glen W. Dowling, K.C. in 1986. The firm practiced under the name Robb & Dowling, Barristers and Solicitors, and continued to practice under that name after Mr. Robb retired in 1994. Tara Talbot joined the practice in 2017. The law firm has been in continuous practice in Regina, Saskatchewan since 1933.
